Astrology & Meditation:

Two keys to self-knowledge

There are various reasons why people want astrological advice. The hope for information about a brighter future or simply curiosity about what the horoscope says about them are the most common. But the best reason why people should consult an astrologer is the desire to get to know themselves better. Gaining an insight into the course of one's own life phases and one's personal talents and challenges helps immensely to get through difficult times so that one can emerge from these phases stronger.

This attitude is the best because it uses the great ability of astrology to hold up a mirror to us. The clarity that we can gain about ourselves through this enables us to take even more conscious responsibility for our own lives. In combination with meditation or a mindfulness practice, we are given effective tools to help us live our lives more freely.

Finding the right meditation practice

There are many different ways to meditate, and ideally everyone finds their own way to do it. My experience shows that the simpler, the better. But it can be useful to try out different techniques to find out what works best for you personally.

The point of a meditation practice is to practise landing in the here and now. The here and now is the key to joy. The joy of experiencing every moment consciously and awake. Focusing our mental power to be able to relax more deeply is very beneficial for ourselves and for our environment. Because every person radiates and has an effect on everything around them.

However, not everyone is able to sit still for long periods of time and focus their attention on their breath or an object. There can be many reasons for this and there are also practical solutions. Perhaps you need more exercise and are already sitting around too much anyway, or your thoughts are so strong that you feel worse afterwards than before.

For people who have an emphasis on the element of air or who are in a phase where their mental energies are very activated, a practical meditation such as slow walking can be more effective.

Mantras, sung or spoken, are also a wonderful way to center yourself and calm down. Especially in phases when the mind is very restless, the structured repetition of the mantra can be a great help to calm down. Singing or chanting loudly creates a sound space that generates a feeling of space and relaxation.

Creative activities that are carried out slowly and without the need for performance are also a way of consciously connecting with the here and now. The mind can focus wonderfully and the desired balance is achieved.
